Frequently Asked Questions

Can Dental Implants fail, and what are the signs?

While Implant success rates are high, failure can occur due to infection, poor integration with the bone, or excessive pressure. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and mobility of the implant.

How do Dental Implants affect neighbouring teeth?

Unlike Bridges, Implants don’t rely on adjacent teeth for support. Instead, they preserve natural tooth structure by acting as independent replacements.

Can I get Implants if I have osteoporosis?

Yes, but bone density assessments are crucial. In some cases, bone grafting or alternative Implant techniques like Zygomatic Implants may be recommended.

Is there a difference between regular Implants and Mini Implants?

Yes, mini Implants are smaller and often used when there’s less bone. However, they are less durable and mainly support dentures rather than individual teeth.

Can Dental Implants fix bite issues or jaw pain?

Yes, they can help restore proper bite alignment, reducing TMJ (jaw joint) strain and improving comfort while chewing.

Will I ever need to replace my Dental Implant?

The Implant post can last a lifetime with proper care, but the crown may need replacing every 10-15 years due to wear and tear.

How soon can I return to work after Implant surgery?

Most patients resume work within 24-48 hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure. Swelling and discomfort usually subside within a few days.

Can smokers get Dental Implants?

Smoking increases the risk of Implant failure by affecting healing and bone integration. Many Dentists recommend quitting before and after surgery.

Do Implants set off airport metal detectors?

No, titanium implants are biocompatible and do not trigger metal detectors or security systems at airports.

Can I undergo MRI or CT scans with Implants?

Yes, Dental Implants are MRI-safe and do not interfere with scanning technology, making them safe for future medical imaging.

Dental Implants

A Long Lasting Solution

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed in the upper or lower jawbone. The implant acts as a root to support crowns, bridges, or dentures to replace one or more missing teeth. With routine check ups and home care instructions as advised by your dentist, implants should last many years.

The success rate is 95% in a healthy person. Should an implant fail to integrate, we will replace it at no extra cost.
